EXOTIC MOTHS
New Lepidoptera are continually being added to the BC fauna, some intentionally ie., the Cinnabar moth, Tyria jacobaeae used for biocontrol of Ragweed and others accidentally ie. the Spongy Moth, Lymantria dispar, an important forest pest.
Early detection of important pests may help in lessening the impacts associated with control of these pests should eradication activities be undertaken. Below I have provided some of the more important Lepidopteran pests that one should report if found in British Columbia.
European Oak Leafroller
Spongy Moth, Lymantria dispar
Rosy Moth, Lymantria mathura
Nun Moth
Oriental Fruit Moth
Light Brown Apple Moth
Oak Processionary Moth
Pine Processionary Moth
Siberian Silk Moth
European Grapevine moth
